Candid perspectives from nurses across care settings
In 2019, after developing an early prototype of the Leg Wrap, I wanted to answer an important question:
Was the challenge of managing weeping edema unique to my own nursing experience in Hospice care, or was it a widespread clinical problem?
To find out, I interviewed nurses from a variety of practice settings, including hospice, home health, acute care, and specialty care. Some were colleagues, while others I had never met before. Each participant first viewed a brief, two-minute video describing the clinical challenges of managing weeping edema and the concept behind the Leg Wrap. They were then invited to share their candid, unrehearsed thoughts and experiences.
These interviews were conducted during the earliest stages of product development to determine whether this represented a broader unmet clinical need, not to obtain endorsements for a product. The responses consistently confirmed that the challenges I had observed were not unique to hospice care but were experienced across multiple areas of clinical practice.
These conversations took place years before the final product was developed, yet they remain an important reminder of why this work began. I remain deeply grateful to each clinician who generously shared their time, experience, and honest perspective.
Although these conversations were informal, a remarkably consistent message emerged across every practice setting: managing weeping edema was difficult, time consuming, and lacked a satisfactory dressing solution.
The following interviews are presented in their original 2019 format. Recorded during the earliest stages of development, they remain unedited. While the presentation is simple, the perspectives shared are genuine, candid, and reflect remarkably consistent experiences across diverse areas of clinical practice.

A Daughter Speaks
The final interview in “Voices from the Field” features the daughter of an elderly patient who passed away several months before this 2019 recording. In a candid and unscripted conversation, she offers the perspective of a daughter who witnessed firsthand the impact this often-overlooked clinical problem had on her mother.
